I always like to go with actual development projects and assets when running assignments for students. It’s a risk. Students tend to expect you to know everything about the project or asset and to know where they can find out everything that they need to know (“Where can I find a source on the costs of relocating a graveyard?”). I really should tell them that, outside of my specialist area aka comfort zone, my knowledge etc. is fairly shallow. My areas of ignorance are broad and numerous. Anyway, for development projects, I’ve always struggled to point to a decent source for demolition costs and I think some students have finally found one. For some reason the Homes and Communities Agency have produced Guidance on dereliction, demolition and remediation costs. Thank you.
