Following CBRE’s acquisition of Johnson Controls FM division, the acquisition by JLL of Integral seems to be a major strategic move.  The acquisition looks like an attempt to improve their mechanical and engineering services offer.  I was interviewing someone from a major fund a few weeks ago who stated that they had shifted their attempt to differentiate their property management from being focussed on sustainability to being focussed on optimisation of M&E (obviously they’re related).  It was notable that they were concerned about a skills gap in the FM sector in terms of technical knowledge of the systems and infrastructure becoming increasingly common in increasingly complex buildings.  I was surprised to hear it then.  JLL have certainly increased their ability to offer high quality operations and maintenance support for increasingly complex HVAC, lighting etc. systems.
